What do you do if you can’t stop snacking? (eating in between meals)

Part of the trouble is that there’s food available almost everywhere you turn.

Of course, the candy manufacturers know that we love to snack and they do their best to make sure their products are available everywhere.

Which doesn’t help you when you decide to reduce your snacking or even give up snacking altogether.

Here are some simple tips to help you either stop snacking completely or at least cut down on your snacking:

Don’t shop on an empty stomach. You’ll buy more food and the chances are that at least some of it will be “comfort food” that you’ll snack on – either on your way home or over the coming days.

Don’t starve yourself. Diets are useful at times but we have a tendency to fight them and snack away at small items because we fool ourselves into thinking they don’t count.

Don’t deny yourself snacks completely. Forbidden fruit is always the most tempting, so if you forbid yourself from snacking, chances are that you will focus on it more.

Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t stop snacking immediately or if you have the occasional slip up. Obviously if your “slip ups” are every 30 minutes, you should address them. But if it’s every few days, don’t worry.
